Friday, Nov. 7, 2025: Weekend Journaling

 

Our class has a new weekly assignment. At the end of each week, the students will bring home their green "Weekend Journal" books:

To receive a full grade, students need to make sure:

1) Did I write the date on the top-left of my journal entry? 

2) Is my handwriting neat?

3) Are my sentences and pictures full of detail?

4) Are my pictures coloured neatly?

Please encourage your child to double check their work with you before submitting it next week. You may help the child spell words correctly, but the student will not have marks removed if spelling is incorrect.

Here is the prompt that was handed out for this long weekend!

The students will share their weekend highlights during our class meeting on the carpet.

3. Our virtue of the month lesson today: Imitate and Practice: Our school is doing a “Grace and Courtesy” initiative where students practice good manners and conduct. This will tie in with practicing the virtue the month, Fortitude:

Students will do the “Courage to Greet” activity. During the week, the students will choose one or more of the following:



Greeting a teacher, administrator, custodian, or another student with a “Good morning/afternoon, _____. I hope you have a wonderful day!”


Going up to the parent volunteer during recess and saying “Thank you for looking after us today, _____!”


Looking out for teachers or other students that need help, and asking “Excuse me, ______, would you like me to help you?”

The teacher will demonstrate how to do it through role-playing with the students. Then, the students practice role-playing these scenarios with each other. Finally, at the end of the day, the class will come together on the carpet and discuss what they experienced during this “Courage to Greet” activity. The teacher will encourage students to practice this at home.
